Weekend with the Parents

My parents came this past weekend to pay us a visit. They brought along a truck load of baby stuff from my sister's house. I was so excited! It actually looks like we have a baby on the way in our house. Here are just a couple of pictures of all the awesome stuff my sister gave us.

Those were just some of the things that Brandy sent us. I didn't take a picture of all the bottles, cups, bowls, bottle warmer, and breast pump. We'll see what Brandy brings this coming weekend when she visits. It already feels like Christmas!


12 1/2 week picture

12 week update

Here is the 12 week update:

The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won't be able to feel it. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder.

Meanwhile, nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and in your baby's brain, synapses are forming furiously. His face looks unquestionable human: His eyes have moved from the sides to the front of his head, and his ears are right where they should be. From crown to rump your baby-to-be is just over 2 inches long (about the size of a lime) and weighs half an ounce.

11 1/2 Week Picture

So I put both of them up here because I didn't know which one looked better. Also, if you look back at my other belly picture, I look like I have lost some belly. I think I was probably very bloated before now. Hopefully, every picture that I take after this will just be baby and not bloating! I don't have a 10 week picture because we had a family camping trip with the youth group that went through Sunday. I try to take my pictures on Sundays when I am dressed up! Anyways, enjoy!

11 Week Update

Here is the 11 week update from BabyCenter.

Your baby, just over 1 1/2 inches long and about the size of a fig, is now almost fully formed. Her hands will soon open and close into fists, tiny tooth buds are beginning to appear under her gums, and some of her bones are beginning to harden.

She's already busy kicking and stretching, and her tiny movements are so effortless they look like water ballet. These movements will become more frequent as her body grows and becomes more developed and functional. You won't feel your baby's acrobatics for another month or two - nor will you notice the hiccuping that may be happening now that her diaphragm is forming.

That's it for now folks! I will try to post some baby bump pictures soon. I will just have to try to remember to take a picture before I change into my pajamas!

Presents!

Baby Tignor has gotten some amazing presents since we first learned that we were pregnant. All of them are so cute! I thought I would just share some of the things we have received.



The very first present I got was from my Prayer Group girls, April and Laurel. We had been praying for this baby for a year, and it was so sweet of them to think of me. Don't you just think this is the most adorable burp cloth?




The second present I received was from Lolly aka my Mom. It is a cute rattle/squeeze toy that already Matt likes to annoy me with. So cute!

The most recent present was delivered yesterday in the mail! It is from Daniel and Julie. So sweet of them to think of us! I love all the good books they gave us. Of course Julie is a teacher, so she knows the importance of reading. And Uncle Daniel got the baby his/her first baseball. Matt definitely loves the baseball!! I'm so glad they got us picture frames. I can't wait to put pictures in them! Thanks so much for the presents Daniel and Julie!

Matt's Birthday

Yesterday was my sweet husband's 27th birthday! I can't believe he is 27. When we first started dating, 27 seemed like such a long way away. But now that Matt is 27 and my 27th birthday is around the corner, I don't feel any different. I still feel the same as I did when I was 20. Well ok, obviously I do feel different. I wasn't knocked up when I was 20, but besides the whole pregnancy thing, I feel the same. Now to those of you who are reading this who are older than 27, I'm not saying you are old. But admit it. When you were 20, and you looked ahead at what your life may be like, 27 seemed like forever away! Anyways, now that I know it isn't so bad, I actually look forward to the 30s. So many exciting things are going to be happening. I know I will have at least one child, hopefully more, and children always make your life go by faster! But back to Matt's birthday. Yesterday I was not feeling well. It was an all day thing. I just felt crappy. Thank goodness Matt doesn't like his birthday to be a big deal, so I didn't feel a whole lot of pressure on me. But I did want to get him a cake. I went to TCBY after work and picked up their Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake. It was so good! I kept asking Matt when he was going to eat so cake (secretly I wanted some for myself). Finally he got the drift, and served himself some cake so that his pregnant wife would not feel guilty about eating the birthday cake before the birthday boy could eat any. Anyways, we had a quiet night at home with just the two of us. There won't be many more of those coming soon. I love you Matt and Happy Birthday!

10 Week Update

When I found out I was pregnant, I signed up for a weekly pregnancy newsletter. Here is what is going on this week with Baby Tig.


Though the baby is barely the size of a kumquat - a little over an inch or so long, crown to bottom - and weighs less than a quarter of an ounce, your baby has now completed the most critical portion of his development. This is the beginning of the so-called fetal period, a time when the tissues and organs in his body rapidly grow and mature.

The baby's swallowing fluid and kicking up a storm. Vital organs - including kidneys, intestines, brain, and liver - are in place and starting to function, though they'll continue to develop throughout your pregnancy.

If you could take a peek inside your womb, you'd spot minute details, like tiny nails forming on fingers and toes and peach-fuzz hair beginning to grow on tender skin.

In other developments: Your baby's limbs can bend now. His hands are flexed at the wrist and meet over his heart, and his feet may be long enough to meet in front of his body. The outline of his spine is clearly visible through translucent skin, and spinal nerves are beginning to stretch out from his spinal cord. Your baby's forehead temporarily bulges with is developing brain and sits very high on his head, which measures half the length of his body. From crown to rump, he's about 1 1/4 inches long. In the coming weeks, your baby will again double in size - to nearly 3 inches.

I know that many of you do not care about any of this. That's ok. I was the same way. But to a momma-to-be, it's pretty cool. So bear with me every week. You will probably have to endure more! :)
