4 and 5 months

I am just now getting around to posting about Levi at 4 months, so I thought I would do a 4 and 5 month post together – because I know y’all are soooo interested!  :)

At 4 months Levi weighed 13.10 pounds.  I can’t remember how long he was (I know, I’m a bad mom!).  He was in to chewing on his fingers.  He started eating solids: rice cereal, oatmeal, applesauce, prunes, sweet potatoes, and squash.  His favorite was oatmeal and applesauce mixed.  He still was not sleeping through the night.  His longest stretch was 5 hours.  He takes a lot of little naps throughout the day.  He was falling asleep on his own in his crib.  One arm unswaddled, but the rest swaddled.  He only takes his paci when he is going to sleep and then sometimes not even then.  Still a great nurser (is that a word?).  If he’s grouchy, I just nurse him and it makes the world a better place!  :)  He has definitely gotten to be a happier baby.  Smiling more and enjoying life.  I started venturing out with both boys this month.  I know, it has taken me 4 months to get there, but Levi really made it stressful there for a while.

At 5 months:  I had to take Levi to the doctor on Sunday, his actual 5 month day, so I got a weight update.  14.1 pounds!  Yay!  He’s starting to chunk up.  I moved his clothes up to 6 – 9 months.  He is still so long and skinny that I kept out his 3-6 month pants.  Most pants fall right off of him!  :)  He found his feet recently.  Not pulling them to his mouth, but he loves to grab them.  He has become quite the talker!  Saying a lot of consonants.  Matt likes to think he is saying “dada” but I know he will say “momma” first!  :)  He has gotten used to Coop “wrestling” with him and I can let Coop be a little more rowdy.  I know Levi can’t wait to get bigger and really get in to it with his brother.  I recently changed his bedtime routine to see if he would sleep any longer.  I now nurse him before bath time and then make him fall asleep on his own.  If he wakes up during the night (which he always does), I try to get him back to sleep without nursing.  But if it has been around 5 hours, then I will nurse him.  He was doing great eating food, but we have hit a standstill.  I won’t go in to the details for Levi’s sake 20 years from now, but let’s just say that it wasn’t agreeing with him.  The last 2 nights have been some of the worst nights yet.  He never slept longer than 30 minutes at a time.  His belly was hurting him!  I have been praying that tonight will be somewhat better.  I will even be happy with every 3 hours.  Anyways, so I can’t really comment on his sleeping skills right now since he hasn’t been feeling well.  He is such a sweet baby.  He has started giving kisses and pretty soon he is going to hold out his arms.  He is very very close to sitting on his own.  He can do it right now, but only for a couple of seconds.  He still is not a roller.  He has rolled a couple of times from belly to back, but that was more than a month ago.  If I remember correctly, Cooper wasn’t a roller either.  I am so ready for him to roll so he can sleep on his stomach.  I think that will make him sleep better.  I still have him swaddled with one arm out.  I just can’t figure out how to get him to sleep unswaddled.  When he starts rolling, I won’t have a choice, but right now, that’s how he’s staying.

We LOVE this little boy so much!
