Visiting Old Friends
On Sunday, Matt and I went to see one of my best friends that I hadn't seen in 2 years! We were roommates through college, and we both took turns being bridesmaids in each other's weddings. We met Caroline and her family in Montgomery. They were headed to the beach, and we decided to meet them during their road trip. Matt and I only had an hour to spend with them, but it was a blast.
Caroline still looks as good as she always has, where I look like I've put on 20 pounds. I promise I haven't. In fact at my last doctor's visit, which was only 2 weeks ago, I had only gained 1 pound since my wedding. I think it has just distributed to other parts of my body, thanks to a new job where all I do is sit on my rear! Anyways, this is a blog about my friend and not this hideous picture. I should have zoomed in and gotten Angela to take a better one. Oh well!

Flowers Make Everything Better
Yesterday was not a good day for me. Matt knew this, and being the wonderful, sweet husband that he is, he got me flowers. When I got home from work, they were sitting on the counter ready to greet me with a smile. I love receiving flowers. They make everything a little bit better. Especially yellow flowers. They are so bright and cheerful. To quote Meg Ryan in You've Got Mail, "Don't you think they are the friendliest flower?"
God's Glory
As Matt and I were driving to Tiger Town one night, we saw this in the sky. The pictures don't show this, but you could see the entire rainbow. I don't know if I have ever seen an entire rainbow. Usually it is just one side or the other. There were a lot of people standing around trying to get pictures. When I see something like this, it is hard for me to understand how someone could doubt that there is a God.

The Amazing Houdini
So for those of you who don't know, I am the proud owner of two Jack Russells. Those are dogs for anyone who was wondering. Well, I'm not really the owner of one. She is on loan.
When we first moved to Auburn, poor Roxie (our dog) had to stay in a tiny house with no fence to go run around in. Then two weeks later, we moved again into our current house with a huge yard, but again, no fence. At first we were keeping her in the garage on a leash (I decided that I didn't want her staying in the house. She is an awful shedder!). But we didn't think that was fair to her. We would try to let her go run, but she would always chase after other dogs (there are a lot of dogs in our neighborhood!). So we shipped her off to stay with her Aunt Brandy. Brandy is the owner of Susie, who is Roxie's mom (confused yet? :) ). So Roxie spent a couple of months at their house until Dad could come help build the fence.
Now that the fence is built, we have both dogs. This has been great for Roxie. She really enjoys having a friend to play with. But recently, Susie seems to be getting tired of Roxie. At least that's what it seems to me. Susie has been digging a hole and going under the fence. Roxie for some odd reason doesn't follow her. But the stranger thing, Susie gets out and immediately goes around and lays in front of our front door! What crazy dog would do that? If you are going to dig out, at least make it worth your while. Go gallivanting around the neighborhood or chase after cats. But no. Her main goal is for us to open the door and let her in. She LOVES being inside with us. I don't know why. I guess because it's different.
Anyways, my sweet husband is getting tired of finding ways to fix Susie's holes. She might not be on loan much longer! Sister you better watch out. Susie might be coming back home to you!

Sleeping with the Fishes
Since my husband is gone on a mission trip this week, I thought it would be fun to have my mom, dad, and niece come keep me company over the weekend. Matt did not have to leave until Saturday morning, so he got to spend some quality time with Remle. I don't know who was more excited - Matt or Remle? When my family got to Auburn, we decided to go out to eat. The restaurant will not be named. The food was awful! I got a hamburger, which I thought couldn't be messed up, but sure enough it was. It was burnt to a crisp! I took a bite and all I tasted was charcoal. My mom's steak was also burnt. We ended up sending both of them back (which I have never done before, so don't think I'm a food snob who does this quite frequently). When the food was brought back out to us, my hamburger was so undercooked that I couldn't eat any of it. Needless to say, I won't be going there again.
This is the only picture I have of mom and dad together on the trip. During this picture my mom was saying "don't take a picture of me. I look awful." I think she is quite cute in this picture.

Uncle Matt was teaching Remle how to crack open the peanut shell. She ate half a bucket!
After Uncle Matt left for his mission trip, we decided to drive to Atlanta to go to the aquarium. We went for the first time last summer, and Remle loved the fish.
This is my attempt at getting a good shot with Remle. Unfortunately she looks like she going to start crying. I don't remember what was going on at this time.
Remle informed me that it was time to eat. So was sat down and had a nice lunch of fruit snacks and gold fish. This was the most relaxing time during the whole trip. If you have never been to the GA aquarium, let me enlighten you. It is so packed, that there were some fish we didn't see because the line was so long. I hate crowds, so this bothered me quite a bit.

Big Red and Lil' Red
So my sister got a little upset when she saw my list of favorites, and she wasn't on there. I told her it wasn't an exhaustive list, so here is an homage to her.
As some of you know, Brandy and I could not be any more different. She extroverted, I'm introverted. She LOVES to shop, I HATE shopping. She is always going, I lay on the couch and take naps. She wears jewelry and has new clothes, I'm doing good not to be in jeans and a t-shirt. So you get the idea. Complete opposites. Sometimes our differences can be a problem, especially around our mother. I'm not sure why, but Mom brings out the worst in us. It is probably just too much estrogen in the room. But in the end, Brandy is one of my best friends. We had a blast last year making Thanksgiving dinner, and then waking up at 4 am to go shopping on Black Friday. Hopefully there will be more of those memories to come.

Now I have two beautiful nieces who remind me of Brandy and me. Don't they look like sisters who just love each other? I'm sure they will hate each other during their teenage years. Remle will hate Daily for her straight hair, and Daily will hate Remle for her curly hair. But hopefully, they will become best friends once they get out on their own and learn to appreciate each other.

10 of my Favorite Things
1. My husband. He is absolutely wonderful. He makes me laugh constantly.
2. My nieces. Remle and Daily have brought excitement to our family.
I can't get enough of them!
3. Handwritten notes. They tell me that you have taken time to show how much you care.
