27 weeks

This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with his legs extended. He's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing his eyes, and perhaps even sucking his fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While his lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning - with a lot of medical help - if he were born now. chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother him, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.

Mom Plans Meals for Entire Year - ABC News

Mom Plans Meals for Entire Year - ABC News

Ok so this is the story that goes along with my previous post. I am new to this whole thing, so I didn't realize that the story did not go along with the video. Anyways, at the bottom of the article is the food calendar that you can print out. Enjoy!

I saw this on Good Morning America and thought I would share it with you. I have always wanted to do something similar to this, but have never started it. Wouldn't it be great not to have to think about what you are cooking for dinner since you have already planned it? Anyways, in the link you can find a copy of her food calendar for 2009. I printed it out, and then crossed out all the things that I don't like, and filled it in with meals she did not have on it. Now I just need to input all the meals in to 2010. Also, I thought a great idea would be to have the recipe for each meal along with the calendar. That way when you are planning your grocery list, you don't have to go searching for each recipe. It is already there. But I know that is even more ambitious. I have already started on mine, so when I get it finished, I will share with you!

26 1/2 weeks pic

So, I almost didn't post these because I look awful. My eyes are so tired and my hair is still wet, but oh well! I couldn't decide between the two because I thought they were both horrendous! Anyways, you can kind of get a sneak preview of the crib behind me. I didn't want to show it to you yet, because I don't have a mattress for the bedding. I want it to be complete before I show it to you.

26 weeks

The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel.

And now just a little pregnancy humor:

Nursery

This past week and weekend, we got busy getting the nursery ready for Cooper. Now, I know that there is still quite a few weeks till he gets here, but my idea for the nursery was ambitious, and I was afraid that it would take a long time. Thankfully, my wonderful husband and one of our friends started painting the green on Tuesday. This saved me a day of getting the first coat on. I invited my lovely mom to come during the long weekend to help with the rest of the painting. She got here Friday after work, and we put a second coat of the green on the wall (unfortunately the cans of paint were slightly off, so some parts of the wall actually have 5 coats!). Saturday morning we ate breakfast and started striping off the first stripe. We painted the white as one big stripe instead of three small stripes. We let that sit for hours and worked on other things around the house. April and Van dropped by for a visit, and then back to work. The next part was to stripe off the light brown and orange stripes. This took a while to figure out and to paint. It was hard to figure out exactly how much room to leave for each stripe. The blue painter's tape is wonderful, but makes it difficult to visualize. Anyways, after we painted those two stripes, we had to wait again for them to dry. By this time, it was 6:00 at night. We still had one more stripe to go, and I was exhausted! At 8:30, we went to check to see if the light brown was dry enough to tape over and paint the dark brown. And it was! It was so rewarding to actually be on the last stripe. And of course mom and I had the technique down, so that stripe flew by. I finished touching up the green (seriously, it was like 5 coats in one spot!) and some of the woodwork that had gotten a little paint on it. We finished around 10 and then headed to bed. Sunday morning before we left for church, we took down the last of the painter's tape and was so excited about how good it looked! Not trying to be prideful or anything, but when you spend that much time on painting stripes, those stripes had better be straight! After church we worked on hanging the curtains and moving all the furniture around. I can't wait till my crib comes in so that you can see the bedding with the paint. Anyways, here is the nursery. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Anniversary Trip

For our anniversary we took a trip to Atlanta. We knew this would probably be the last time for a while that we would get to go away by ourselves. We stayed for a couple of days and just hung out visiting different parts of Atlanta. We ate some good food and had lots of time to relax. The night of our anniversary was the National Championship. Since my team was in the game, we laid in bed and enjoyed the game. I love this picture, because it shows how much things change the longer you are together. I definitely just wanted to lay in bed and watch t.v., when 4 years ago I would have wanted to be out around town. Anyways, my team won, so it was a great day!

25 weeks

So I know it has been awhile since my last post. And a lot has actually happened to write about, but I will have to get to that later. I wanted to update you on what is going on with Cooper. Of course I think it is cool, but I can totally understand if you just skip over these weekly updates.

Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. His weight - a pound and a half - isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but he's beginning to exchange his long, lean look for some baby fat. As he does, his wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and he'll start to look more and more like a newborn. He's also growing more hair - and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.

For some reason there are 2 pictures of me and Matt. I can't figure out how to delete one and don't want to redo this whole post. So just ignore one!

Christmas in Memphis

Our Christmas in Memphis was not until Jan. 2nd this year. My sister and her husband and kids went to Canada for Christmas, so we had to wait until they got back to celebrate. Matt and I spent a couple of days before hand just hanging out with my parents. There are a lot of pictures! You have been warned!

My Mom's Christmas tree loaded down with presents!

23 weeks today!

Dad and Matt chilling before we go celebrate New Year's Eve!

Mom and Dad took us to this steakhouse in Como, MS. It was so good!

Jan. 2nd. Our Christmas morning! The girls got two presents from Santa.

Our tradition is to have a huge breakfast before opening presents. We had fried potatoes (my favorite), biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, eggs, and coffee! I was stuffed!

Daily loves her babies! She is going to be a great mommy.

Matt and I got Remle and Daily an art easel.

We also got them a Twilight Turtle. You plug it in your room, and at night constellations show up on your ceiling.

Mom got all of her grandkids some nice books that will be special just between her and them.

Remle wearing Poppy's awful glasses!

Brandy got a backpack from Ab.

That also had a hidden Citizen watch inside.

Brandy has talked about getting the complete works by Jane Austen in hardback forever. I have looked in stores, but can't find them anywhere. I finally got on Amazon and bought her a boxed set. She was so excited!

Mom got me a scrapbook for Cooper. Can't wait to fill it up with pictures of him.

Mom also got me a new wallet. I have had the same one since high school!

Matt does not like Alabama. Especially since we live in Auburn. But since my whole family routes for Alabama, he will just have to get over it!

Now Daily is wearing Poppy's awful glasses.

Remle loves her Uncle Matt!

Please ignore the double chin!

Mom and I made hair bows for Remle.

Mom made Cooper a blanket that is one side Auburn and the other side Alabama.

I love Eric Carle!

Mr. Ice Guy! I love that one!

Believe it or not, we do not have a working DVD player. So glad we have one now!

Dad wants Remle and Daily to route for Alabama!

No Girls Allowed (Except for Mom)!
I like this one. :)

I just love little shoes!

Mom and Dad got Remle and Daily a Gator for Christmas. They were so excited! I will try to figure out how to upload video of them on it.

I love Daily's face in this one. Pure joy!

Matt trying to help Daily drive. He was not successful!

The girls decided to go off-roading. Poppy had to turn them around and drag them out.
