This past week and weekend, we got busy getting the nursery ready for Cooper. Now, I know that there is still quite a few weeks till he gets here, but my idea for the nursery was ambitious, and I was afraid that it would take a long time. Thankfully, my wonderful husband and one of our friends started painting the green on Tuesday. This saved me a day of getting the first coat on. I invited my lovely mom to come during the long weekend to help with the rest of the painting. She got here Friday after work, and we put a second coat of the green on the wall (unfortunately the cans of paint were slightly off, so some parts of the wall actually have 5 coats!). Saturday morning we ate breakfast and started striping off the first stripe. We painted the white as one big stripe instead of three small stripes. We let that sit for hours and worked on other things around the house. April and Van dropped by for a visit, and then back to work. The next part was to stripe off the light brown and orange stripes. This took a while to figure out and to paint. It was hard to figure out exactly how much room to leave for each stripe. The blue painter's tape is wonderful, but makes it difficult to visualize. Anyways, after we painted those two stripes, we had to wait again for them to dry. By this time, it was 6:00 at night. We still had one more stripe to go, and I was exhausted! At 8:30, we went to check to see if the light brown was dry enough to tape over and paint the dark brown. And it was! It was so rewarding to actually be on the last stripe. And of course mom and I had the technique down, so that stripe flew by. I finished touching up the green (seriously, it was like 5 coats in one spot!) and some of the woodwork that had gotten a little paint on it. We finished around 10 and then headed to bed. Sunday morning before we left for church, we took down the last of the painter's tape and was so excited about how good it looked! Not trying to be prideful or anything, but when you spend that much time on painting stripes, those stripes had better be straight! After church we worked on hanging the curtains and moving all the furniture around. I can't wait till my crib comes in so that you can see the bedding with the paint. Anyways, here is the nursery. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
